Vein Treatment
Laser vein therapy is a revolutionary medical technique which uses patented technology to eliminate benign vascular and pigmented lesions non-invasively.
Alternatives to Laser Vein Treatment could be Sclerotherapy (injection of Saline solution)
The principle of Laser Vein Removal is the following: laser penetrates the skin to raise the temperature of the blood vessel and safely coagulate it. Over time the vessel fades and slowly disappears.
Large to mid-size veins should be treated with injection. Small to mid-size veins should be treated by lasers.
After Laser Vein Treatment fading is often excellent but varies from patient to patient. It is impossible to predict what level of improvement any one patient will have. It can take several months to see the final result. Treated leg veins may look worse at first. Realistic expectations for improvement and not perfection are essential.
Treated with laser areas may appear red and/or bruised. Vein removal pain is generally mild and transient. Swelling and /or blistering and crusting can occur. Scarring is unusual. Some patients may have lightening or darkening of the skin. This is usually temporary (but may take several months to clear) but can be permanent. Permanent hair loss in the treated area can occur. Other side effects are uncommon.
In majority of cases no recovery time needed after laser vein removal. However any skin reaction should be transient.
Laser emits a narrow spectrum of light in short pulses during vein treatment. This may feel like rubber band hitting against your skin. It usually lasts a few minutes, but can last longer. We recommend a topical gel for you to apply as needed for discomfort.
Wash the area varicose or spider veins would be removed from well. Avoid taking aspirin for a week prior to the treatment.
After vein removal procedure care for the treated areas gently. We will recommend a gel you can use for discomfort as needed. Avoid sun exposure for about 2 months.
Laser Vein Treatment Cost
Lower bound: $400
Upper bound: $2,900
National average: $2,300
The doctor will discuss your case of your vein treatment with you. Photographs are usually taken. You will be asked to read and sign a consent form. Gel will be applied to the areas to be treated. Treatment consists of placing a hand piece on the skin surface over the area to be treated and administering light pulses.
The number of laser vein treatments needed depends on what is being treated. We may recommend doing a test spot the first session. Any one lesion may require several treatments. Repeat treatments, when necessary, are usually done every 6 weeks or so.
There is a common mislead that lasers used for vein treatment can cause cancer. Cancer growth has nothing to do with laser, which involves simply removing hair. No cancer causing radiation is produced by lasers.
