IPL Treatments for the removal and reduction of unwanted hair...
Why IPL/Laser Hair Removal:

If you live with unwanted hair, you've probably tried the typical solutions such as shaving, waxing and electrolysis. If so, you've found:

Shaving is a daily nuisance.
Waxing is painful and only a short-term solution.
Electrolysis is effective, but since it only treats one hair follicle at a time, it's not practical for large areas and is extremely time-consuming.

The IPL/Laser alternative offers:

Permanent: concentrated pulses of light loosen the hair and disable the cells responsible for new hair growth.
Fast: small areas, such as the underarms or upper lip can be treated in 10 minutes and even larger areas like the legs can be treated in around 30 minutes.
Comfortable: various cooling methods keep the light pulses mild and safe, allowing for more comfortable treatments than electrolysis and/or waxing.
Convenient: Unlike waxing, there is no need to let your hair grow out between treatments. You can remain hair free all the time.

What to expect:

Immediately after treatment, you can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation and possibly some mild swelling. This will pass within l2 to 24 hours.
The treated hair will continue to appear for 7-30 days post-treatment. This is not new hair growth, but the treated hairs being expelled from the skin.
At any given time, some of your hair is not in a phase of active growth. Therefore you will need more than one treatment to affect the growth of all your unwanted hair. Typically we recommend 5 treatments.
Because of the nature of the IPL broadband technology, you will likely experience an improvement in your skin tone and texture as well; you may notice some lessening of spider veins and sunspots as well.

PLEASE NOTE: There is some risk of hyper or hypo pigmentation with any Laser/IPL treatment. Your provider will evaluate your skin type and other factors to determine the extent of your risk and the best way to minimize it. You may take one of the simple tests that we use in the evaluation process: click here.

Using light technology to help the body correct skin problems...
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Systems and Lasers...

Pulsed light systems and Lasers are very similar kin that they both use light to create very specific damage to specific areas of the skin so that the body can selectively repair itself. However, where the laser tends to use a single element of the light spectrum, the pulsed light system filters light from different parts of the spectrum. Each band of the spectrum has a wavelength that is ideal for different treatments. Thus, we use the IPL systems for issues such as sunspot removal, spider vein clearance, hair removal, which respond better to the broader band of light treatment. However, we use an actual laser for treatments that need a more intense single focus treatment such as skin tightening.

The Palomar systems have also been leaders in developing and integrating cooling technologies into their systems. These technologies have been instrumental in making these treatments far more comfortable and virtually eliminating downtime associated with the treatments.
