Cool Glide Laser Hair Removal

How does the CoolGlide Laser Hair Removal compare with other hair removal methods?
Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated on a frequent basis. The CoolGlide offers hair reduction for long lasting, often permanent results.

How does laser hair removal compare with electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Meanwhile, the CoolGlide effectively treats hundreds of hair follicles with every pulse.

What do laser hair removal treatments feel like?
When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. With cooling gel and topical anesthetic cream, most patients remain comfortable.

What kind of results should I expect?
With each treatment the total amount of hair is reduced. After a series, patients can expect a 75-90% reduction in amount of hair. Remaining hair is typically much finer.

How many treatments will I need?
Most areas require 4-6 treatments. The number of treatments required depends on multiple factors - hair thickness, area treated, and hair's growth cycle. Not all hairs actively grow at the same time. Hairs actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. Lasers disable hairs that are in the growth phase at the time of treatment. Since hairs enter the growth phase at different times, multiple treatments are needed to disable all of the hair follicles.

What happens after the treatment?
Following your treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen, usually resolving within a few hours. 3-7 days after treatment you may experience what seems to be regrowth of hair. Actually, most of these hairs are being shed and are not regrowing. Between treatments do not wax or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave 4 days after treatment.

Are there any possible side effects?
Side effects are rare. Occasionally, some blistering, bruising, or pigment changes may occur, but typically resolves quickly. Limiting sun exposure will minimize the risk of complications.
