IPL Treatments for removal of pigmentation (spots) and vascular lesions, broken capillaries (spider veins, rosacea, and to improve overall skin coloration, tone and texture...
Palomar has developed the RejuveLuxâ„¢ Photofacial process for the treatment of pigmented and vascular lesions on the face, as well as the arms, chest, and other large areas. Using the LuxG and/or the LuxY hand pieces, the RejuveLux process is able to clear sunspots, rosacea, telangiectasias, and other conditions, in order to improve skin tone. The RejuveLuxâ„¢ Photofacial process also helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in the course of its other benefits.

How does it work?
Treating a pigmented lesion with the pulsed light results in heating the melanin. The heat damages the lesion and in a few days is naturally sloughed as the skin exfoliates and rebuilds new undamaged skin. Similar results are seen in the treatment of vascular lesions. The absorption of the light in oxyhemoglobin, de-oxyhemoglobin, and the resultant thermal action inside the blood vessels result in intraluminal coagulation, vasoconstriction, and damage to the vessel endothelial lining, all of which contribute to the degeneration and disappearance of any visible vessels.

What to expect:

Immediately after treatment, you can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation and possibly some mild swelling. This will pass within l2 to 24 hours.
Sunspots, the spots will darken after treatment and be naturally shed from the skin within 1-3 weeks.
Rosacea: Skin tone will be more normal, with less pronounced redness within a week of the treatment.
Spider Veins: Vessels may disappear after the treatment or the may darken and then fully or partially fade with 10-14 days.
Typically 3 to 5 treatments will be necessary to achieve complete clearance of sunspots, rosacea and vessels. This will vary by individual.

Using light technology to help the body correct skin problems...
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Systems and Lasers...

Pulsed light systems and Lasers are very similar kin that they both use light to create very specific damage to specific areas of the skin so that the body can selectively repair itself. However, where the laser tends to use a single element of the light spectrum, the pulsed light system filters light from different parts of the spectrum. Each band of the spectrum has a wavelength that is ideal for different treatments. Thus, we use the IPL systems for issues such as sunspot removal, spider vein clearance, hair removal, which respond better to the broader band of light treatment. However, we use an actual laser for treatments that need a more intense single focus treatment such as skin tightening.

The Palomar systems have also been leaders in developing and integrating cooling technologies into their systems. These technologies have been instrumental in making these treatments far more comfortable and virtually eliminating downtime associated with the treatments.
